Alan has been a qualified chartered accountant for almost 40 years, and has been a fellow of R3 (the Association of Business Recovery Professionals) since 1995. Regulated by the Insolvency Practitioners Association Alan brings calm and experience to complex cases such as compulsory liquidations, CVA’s and administrations.
Director and Licensed Insolvency Practitioner
Regulated by both the Insolvency Practitioners Association and R3, Alan Simon has been an insolvency practitioner since the late 1970’s having previously qualified as an accountant. He now works primarily on corporate insolvency cases but has long experience with personal insolvency also, having supervised many Individual Voluntary Arrangements.
Company Secretary
Ed has experience in managing teams of people within companies large and small, from working within her own jointly-owned businesses, to large brands such as Age Concern. Ed has now worked exclusively within the Company Debt team for many years, ensuring legal duties are followed. She also helps with cash-flow management, administrative duties and staff management, the arrangement of internal meetings, as well as external communication with prospective partners and much more.

With almost four decades of experience in business, Mike Smith is one of the founders of Company Debt and one of the UK’s most experienced mediators with HMRC. Having previously owned several of his own successful companies and occupied senior roles as a director within both Legal and General and Sun Alliance during separate periods of his career, Mike founded Company Debt with a genuine desire to help stressed directors in challenging circumstances. He is also an expert in the alternative finance sector.

Simon is a qualified chartered account and became fully qualified as a licensed insolvency practitioner in 2010. He is a member of R3 (the Association of Business Recovery Professionals). With an accountancy and taxation background, Simon’s daily work is focussed on both corporate and personal insolvency cases. He brings a wealth of experience that covers the retail, manufacturing, IT and property sectors.
With almost 30 years experience in the insolvency profession, Sue Collins is a licensed insolvency practitioner with a focus on corporate debt and restructuring. Her commercial acumen and long experience, make her a critical part of the Company Debt team. Her daily work covers all aspects of insolvency, including redundancy payments, TUPE, liquidations and restructuring.
