The HMRC website does not readily offer office locations, preferring to direct people towards telephone and email contact in the first instance.

If you’ve received correspondence about a particular issue, any contact details will be clearly marked in the letter. Failing that, here is some of the key contact information which may be of use

Where are HMRC Offices Located Across the UK?

NB: We are not HMRC, but an independent firm of insolvency practitioners. Please contact us if you need debt advice, but if it’s a tax return related issue, you’ll need to contact HMRC directly via the details below.

How do I Find my HMRC Tax Office?

If you’ve received correspondence about a particular issue, any contact information should be clearly marked in the top right-hand corner of the letter.

As you can imagine, from an organisation as big as HM and Revenue (almost 60,000 employees), they are extremely compartmentalised, and you’ll need to contact the right department to avoid wasting a huge amount of time on the phone.

HMRC offices are conveniently located in central locations in the following towns and cities, close to accessible transport links: Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Croydon, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Nottingham, Portsmouth, and Stratford.

Always begin with a phone call, as per the numbers below, unless you’ve been summoned to a specific meeting with an HMRC employee.

Can I Visit an HMRC Office?

HMRC strongly recommends scheduling an appointment before visiting their offices. Initially, it is best to make contact using the telephone numbers provided.

For those requiring face-to-face interaction, HMRC staff can also visit your location. Additional support is available for individuals with health conditions or personal circumstances that make communication with HMRC challenging.

How do I Contact HMRC?

HMRC’s website contains a detailed list here of further contacts.

Can I Make a Face-to-Face Appointment with HMRC if I Need Extra Support?

Yes, you can make a face-to-face appointment with HMRC, particularly if you require additional support. To access this service, you should initially contact HMRC through the standard helpline numbers and explain any special circumstances or needs you might have, whether temporary or permanent.

The helpline adviser can then determine whether to transfer you to the Extra Support team. This transfer should be a “warm handover,” meaning you won’t need to repeat your circumstances.

For those who prefer not to use the phone, the Extra Support team is also accessible via webchat, and an online form is available for arranging face-to-face appointments. This service is particularly useful for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, have speech impairments, or find it challenging to communicate over the phone.

Face-to-face appointments with the Extra Support team can take place at various locations throughout the UK, possibly including your home if you are unable to travel. However, the team generally tries to resolve issues over the phone whenever possible.
